Daewoo disaster leaves Lynsey out of pocket
SINGLE mum Lynsey Evans suffered a motoring nightmare when she bought a car from a second-hand dealer.

She has been left angry — and with an expensive bill — after the 10-year-old Daewoo Matiz developed several faults within weeks.

The Oldham Road-based Hoss Motors, in Failsworth, closed down not long after she had bought the Daewoo Matiz last November.

Lynsey (31), who had only passed her test weeks before, used inheritance money from her late mother to buy the car.

Only two days after buying it the clutch pedal stuck.

Water leaked in round the windows, the back door handle fell off and it was found the high fuel consumption was because the petrol tank was leaking

The final straw camew when the key barrel in the door fell out.

Lynsey paid £1,000 for the car and another £2,000 for insurance.

“When I bought it I was told there would be a three-month warranty. They said if there were faults they would sort it.

“I went back and they told me to come back after Christmas.

“I did and the place was closed.”

Gary Jones, who used to be a salesman for Hoss Motors, insists the car was sold in a decent state.

He said the car had an MOT when it was sold, indicating it was roadworthy.

Lynsey, who lives in New Moston, suffered a major problem when a timing belt on the car failed on the motorway. She said: “I’ve scrapped it. It wasn’t worth spending the money to get it up to scratch.”
