HUNDREDS flocked to Failsworth Basin to witness a sizzling show of fire, music and water.
Rochdale Canal was flush with families as they enjoyed a Saturday night along the bank, as part of the inaugural Illuminate Festival.
The sunset prompted a wonder of state-of-the art pyrotechnics and performances on the water, to display Oldham’s commitment to the North West Cultural Olympiad.
The free event was the first of the “Shine” programme, ran by the Catalyst team, who are encouraging more people to get involved in the arts.
Shonagh Ingram, Catalyst co-ordinator, said at the Arts Council-funded event: “We have had a fantastic turnout
“It’s the first of a number of events, which will all be based around the canal, leading towards the Rochdale Canal Festival at the end of August.”
