Three up for election

NOMINATIONS for candidates sitting in next month’s by-election for the Failsworth East ward closed at noon yesterday.
One of the seats became vacant last month following the death of Councillor Barbara Dawson, after a short illness.
The three candidates now up for election on Thursday, June 14, are: Carrol Ashton (UK Independence Party), Norman Briggs (Labour) and Ron Wise (Liberal Democrats).
