A BOOK of condolence has been opened to allow people to write a personal message following the sudden death of popular Failsworth councillor Glenys Butterworth.
Councillor Butterworth, who lived in Westminster Road, was first elected in 2007 after almost 50 years as a Failsworth resident, and was hugely popular both as a local woman and as a councillor.
Books of condolence can be found at the entrance of Oldham Civic Centre entrance and at Failsworth Town Hall. People can also contribute online at www.oldham.gov.uk
The date for Councillor Butterworth’s funeral has yet to be announced.
Details of a by-election to fill the seat left vacant by Councillor Butterworth’s death will be given after her funeral.
