Making a splash on the water
Date published: 28 August 2012
HUNDREDS of families turned out for fun on Oldham’s waterways as the Rochdale Canal Festival paddled into town.
Locals of all ages took to the water as part of the nine-day event, which began on August 18.
While land-lovers were invited to take part in poetry, art, crafts, weaving and face painting on the canal-side and across Oldham. The Grassroots Community Allotment, Failsworth Library, Cartmel Crescent Allotment and the Wellbeing Service also hosted activities.
A relay between Sowerby Bridge and Manchester — along the length of the canal — passed through the borough on Friday, before the festivities came to an end on Sunday.
