Car park complaints

A WOODHOUSES planning application, which has received 222 objections, will go before the council tomorrow night.

Proposals to extend the car park on to the bowling green at the Dog and Partidge pub, Medlock Road, have met with complaints from residents.

Ten letters of objection and a petition with 212 signatures have been submitted. Concerns include volume of traffic, noise and loss of green space. Council planners will make a decision on the matter at a meeting at the civic centre at 6pm.

WALKERS are invited on a twilight jaunt to track down some elusive local wildlife on a bat walk around Daisy Nook Country Park. The walk takes place at dusk on Saturday, September 22. For more information, contact the park rangers on 0161-770 4056.

LOCALS have been thanked by police for their help tackling metal theft in the area. Failsworth police held a surgery for residents last week, where they gathered intelligence from members of the public. A spokesman said: “Some good intelligence and information came out of the surgery at Failsworth Health Centre. Thank you to all who took the time to come and speak with us.”

NHS staff are urging locals to step up to the plate and give blood. A donation session for Failsworth residents will be held at the Holy Family Church on Lord Lane, on Friday, October 12. Sessions will be held between 1.15 and 3.30pm and 5.15 and 7.30pm. For more information call 0300-123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk.

FAILSWORTH police have taken to Twitter to issue crime-prevention advice to locals. Police have used the social networking site to give several hints and tips on preventing theft in the area. For more information, search for @GMPFailsworth on www.twitter.com.
