LOCALS are invited to the annual Boarshurst Band concert.
The event, which has been taking place since 2000, will be back this year at the Beulah Baptist and United Reformed Church, Withins Road, Hollinwood.
Tickets for the concert, on Sunday, October 7, at 2pm, will be £4 each including refreshments.
FAILSWORTH police have issued a “belt-up” warning to drivers. They took to Twitter to reveal that road deaths have increased over the last year, from 53 to 75 across Greater Manchester.
A police spokesman said: “If you don’t wear a seatbelt you are not only endangering your own life but could face a £60 penalty.”
FAILSWORTH Townswomen’s Guild will be supporting Hearing Dogs for the Deaf over the coming year — and are urging residents to get involved. To inquire about joining the guild, contact 0161-684 8258.
AN application for planning permission in Failsworth has been withdrawn. Embassy Gas in Oldham Road had put in an application to rebuild its boundary wall and shop front.
POLICE in Hollinwood have prioritised anti-social behaviour around Jenny Street. They say problems are worse in the evenings and at weekends, especially between 5 and 11pm.
There are now increased police patrols in the area, warning letters will be sent to the parents of those involved and they will have their details forwarded to the Community Safety Service.
VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help rainbows, brownies and guides. For more information, please contact Enid Bell on 0161- 684 9238.
