Pub fun day

THE Streetbridge Inn, Roman Road, will be hosting a fun day to raise money for Children in Need, with raffles, competitions, a sponsored bean bath, face painting, bouncy castle, entertainment, a sponsored head shave, stalls and a tombola.
The event starts at noon on Sunday and will run until late in the evening.
BUDDING young chefs are invited to a “Ready, Steady, Cook” class at the Failsworth Q Youth Centre, James Street, on Friday night. Youngsters aged between nine and 18 can join in the class — 50p per session — between 6 and 8.30pm. As well as cooking and tasting new foods, there is pool, table tennis, sports and computer games. PERMISSION has been given for a new community centre in Hollinwood. Council planners approved the application last week, which will see the Byron Street Club turned into a community centre, with a two-storey rear extension and outdoor play area. Objections were received about increased traffic and the proximity of an already-existing community centre.
FAILSWORTH School will be opening its doors to potential new pupils on Thursday. The Brierley Avenue school will be holding its open evening for Year 6 pupils between 6 and 8pm.
FAILSWORTH and Hollinwood District Partnership meets tomorrow at Oasis Academy, Hollins Road, at 7pm.
THE Failsworth Townswomen’s Guild took a trip down memory lane at its last meeting with a talk by Freda Millett, who described being brought up by her grandmother, following the death of her mother in childbirth.
