Police thanks

FAILSWORTH police have said “thank-you” to locals for their support over the last few weeks.

Officers took to Twitter, as “GMPFailsworth”, to thank residents following the deaths of PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone.

They said: “Thank you to all the kindness shown to us in the past couple of weeks from those offering their condolences.”



LIMEHURST Youth Centre is holding an arts and crafts session for Hallowe’en. Youngsters who want to create creepy decorations are invited to the session, on Tuesday, October 30, between noon and 2.30pm. Children under nine must be accompanied by an adult. The St John’s Droylsden Brass Band takes to the stage at Woodhouses Church, Ashton Road, on Saturday, at 7.30pm. Tickets will be £5, including refreshments, and can be bought in advance or on the door. For details contact Tony Clough on 0161- 681 1611.



ST John’s Church, Oldham Road, is holding a book sale on Saturday from 10am. The event will be held in the Mission Hall and refreshments will be available.

The Failsworth Townswomen’s Guild is hold indoor bowls contests every Wednesday evening at Failsworth Town Hall, between 6 and 8pm. The events are in aid of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. For more information contact the group on 0161-684 8258.

YOUNGSTERS can enjoy games, challenges, chat and craft at “Rock Solid”, on Wednesdays. The group for 10 to 14-year-olds is held between 7.30 and 8.30pm at Roman Road Independent Methodist Church, Roman Road. It costs £1 per person.
