Fishing theft

POLICE are appealing for information after a large amount of fishing gear was stolen from a shed in Failsworth.

They have asked locals who are offered the Shimano items for sale to call police on 101.


LOCALS are urged to have their say on imminent council budget cuts at a meeting in Hollinwood tonight. Councillors from the ward will be in attendance to hear the views and priorities of residents, as the council faces having to axe £31 million from its budget over the coming year. The meeting will be held at the Walkers Road Community Centre, Walkers Road, from 7pm.


FAILSWORTH Carnival Queen will be leading the fundraising at an event for Children in Need at Kehoes, Oldham Road, on Saturday, from 7pm. The family-friendly night of fun will include sponsored custard, jelly and bean baths, a raffle, face painting, DJ, children’s entertainer and hot pot supper. Oldham Cancer Support Centre is holding an autumn fair to raise funds to keep the centre open. It will feature gift, book and cake stalls, a tombola and raffle, at the Broadbent Luncheon Club, Lord Lane, Failsworth, on Saturday, from 10am and 3pm.


RESIDENTS are invited to a Hallowe’en arts and crafts session at Limehurst Youth Centre, Farm Road, on Tuesday, October 30, from noon to 2.30pm.


FAILSWORTH police have taken to Twitter to urge locals to enjoy Bonfire Night safely, but warned residents that fireworks can only be let off until 11pm on November 5.
