Remembrance in Hollinwood

REMEMBRANCE Sunday will be observed in Hollinwood with a service and laying of wreaths.


The service at St Margaret’s starts at 10.30am and includes the two-minute silence.

At 12.15pm members of the Hollinwood Association of Churches will meet with councillors and residents at the Hollinwood war memorial, in the church grounds.

They will lay wreaths and take a collection for the Royal British Legion.


FAILSWORTH Townswomen’s Guild will not be holding a coffee morning on November 20, as the guild previously stated. A fair with crafts and activities will instead be taking place on November 27, at Failsworth Town Hall, between 7.30 and 10pm.


TICKETS are now available for the Limehurst Lions Christmas party. The recently-formed junior rugby league team will be holding the party at Whitebank, home of Oldham RLFC, on Saturday, December 15. Tickets from Whitebank or the Roughyeds office in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton, on 0161-628 3677.


POLICE are appealing for information about a burglary and the theft of a car in Woodford Road. Officers from Failsworth took to Twitter to post details about the incident last Monday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.


GIRL power is alive and well at Limehurst Youth Centre. The girls meet every Thursday between 4 and 6pm, for youngsters aged 12 and over at 20p per time. For more information contact the Farm Road youth centre on 0161-770 5683.


WALKERS are invited on ramble around Daisy Nook. Branching Out is a three-mile walk around the nature reserve looking for wildlife. The walk will begin at 1pm on Sunday and will take around two hours. Meet at the John Howarth Countryside Centre, off Stannybrook Road, Failsworth.
