Sheds targeted

FAILSWORTH police are urging locals to secure their sheds, after five breaks-ins in less than a week.

Officers took to Twitter to warn locals about the incidents, which have all occurred around the Woodford Road area. They said: “Please check that your shed is secure, especially if you keep anything valuable in there.”


A DAY of festive fun will begin with a five-mile “mistletoe meander” from Daisy Nook to Park Bridge, before mince pies, mulled wine and decoration-making at the Heritage Centre. The event is on December 16, from 11am. Meet at the John Howarth Countryside Centre, off Stannybrook Road. There will be a small charge towards costs.


A FUNDRAISING fair hosted by the Townswomen’s Guild takes place at Failsworth Town Hall tonight, between 7.30 and 10pm. There will be crafts, tombola, raffles, refreshments and a performance from the Eccles Community Choir. All proceeds will go to Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.


CYCLISTS in Failsworth and Hollinwood are being urged to stay safe on the road after police reported seeing riders without lights and dressed in dark clothing. It is thought those putting themselves in danger are mainly children.
