CHARITABLE Failsworth youngsters have raised more than £2,200 for charity. Caring children from Failsworth School announced their Children in Need fundraising total last week.
Their activities included a four-day sponsored silence, stalls and raffle. Pudsey visited the school to collect the cheque for £2,299.23.
FAILSWORTH Dynamos Junior Football Club has launched its new website. The club, which has teams from under-six to “open age”, has refurbished its online presence. Go to www.failsworthdynamosjfc.co.uk to check out its new look.
A FESTIVE five-mile walk ending with with mince pies, mulled wine and crafts will be held on Sunday, December 16. The Mistletoe Meander, from Daisy Nook Country Park, off Stannybrook Road, Failsworth, will take locals to Park Bridge Heritage Centre, where there will be seasonal snacks and Christmas decoration making. There will be a small charge and the event should take around four hours, starting at 11am at the John Howarth Countryside Centre.
POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary and break-in on Lord Lane, Failsworth. The burglary happened on Monday, November 26, sometime between 4.45 and 6.50pm. A shed on the same road was also broken into on the same day, prompting another warning from police about keeping outhouses locked. Anybody with information about either incident is asked to call 101.
HOLLINWOOD Work Club is appealing for volunteers for two hours a week. Locals with time to spare on a Thursday afternoon are asked to help out with the club, which helps locals seeking employment. The volunteer must have good computer skills and knowledge of English for helping with CVs. For more information visit www.do-it.org.uk.
