WOODHOUSES church’s amateur operatic society is holding auditions tonight, at 7.30pm, for its forthcoming production of “The Pirates of Penzance”.
Male chorus members are particularly sought. The church, in Ashton Road, is also holding its annual autumn fair on Saturday, offering many stalls and refreshments, from 2 to 4pm.

POLICE will provide a listening ear at the GMP police surgery tomorrow. Residents and business owners will have the opportunity to discuss their concerns or any issues they may have with officers at the Failsworth Health Centre, Ashton Road West, from 10 to 11am.
THE story of “The 40 Thieves”, which is about the beginning of the Miles Platting mission in Oldham Road, Failsworth, will be discussed tomorrow at the Failsworth Historical Society. The event, at Broadbent Luncheon Club, Lord Lane, at 7pm, is open to members and friends. Refreshments will be provided at the end of the talk. THE Hollins Road toddler group meets at Hollins Methodist Church on Tuesdays, from 10am to noon. It costs £1 per child and 20p for each additional child. Price includes refreshments. For more information call 0161-633 0006.
