THE FRIDAY THING
MULTI-CULTURAL Britain is facing up to a major challenge as immigrants from various part of Europe take advantage of our no-door policy to pile in to the country courtesy of the European Union.
In Sheffield, there have already been difficulties between the resident Pakistani community and the Roma folk because the newcomers are from a different culture, behave differently and are seen in some quarters as intimidating.
Sheffield MP and former Home Secretary David Blunkett warns that the problems could escalate when the Romanian and Bulgarian nationals add to the mix in a few months’ time.
There will be tensions on the streets, attracting, no doubt, the interest of the Far-Right and Oldham needs to be alert to the dangers bubbling up in this cultural cocktail.
