A BEACH shack, bucket and spade and bikini-clad model brought a touch of summer to drizzly Oldham town centre yesterday.

Package holiday operator Jet2holidays and Miss Manchester 2013, Arabella Durkin, set out to lift spirits and spread summer warmth among Oldhamers wrapped up against the winter onslaught.

Visitors to the shack were able to enter a competition to win prizes, including a free holiday.

Arabella (18) said: “We’ve had great fun and a much-needed reminder of what it’s like to have sand between our toes, smell the sun-tan lotion and simply feel the heat. Get me on that plane!”
