Oldham RL 22, Swinton Lions 18
OLDHAM RL set themselves up nicely for Monday night's trip to Halifax with an important win over Swinton Lions at Bower Fold.
Roughyeds coach Scott Naylor was looking for a reaction to the thumping they received at Toulouse - and he got it, although it was a tense second half.
The Lions fought back from a 12-point deficit at the break, but Oldham held out for a third victory of the season in the Kingstone Press Championship.
Sammy Gee, Richard Lepori and Michael Ward went over for the hosts, with Scott Leatherbarrow kicking five goals.
For Swinton, Mike Butt, Jack Murphy and Chris Hankinson touched down. Chris Atkin made up Lions' tally with the boot.
Oldham reamin ninth in the table, level on points with Rochdale but with a game in hand.
