Boost for Halliwell
Date published: 02 December 2008
CENTRE Danny Halliwell has been given the all-clear to carry on training after seeing a specialist regarding a troublesome abdominal injury.
The 27-year-old Roughyeds player has been told that he does not have a hernia, as was feared. But he will have an ultra-sound scan to see if there is an underlining muscular problem.
At this stage, treatment other than surgery is thought to be the most likely option and the former Halifax and Leigh man, who has just signed a new 12-month contract at Oldham, will continue to train in the meantime.
Winger Gareth Langley was due to undergone a shoulder operation today and faces the prospect of a three-month lay-off. The extent of the problem will not become clear until surgery.
Langley’s position at Oldham is also unclear. His contract has just expired and, so far, a new one is not in place.
