A RECURRENCE of the knee trouble he experienced last season means that Jason Boults will have to go back to see a specialist.
The last time the club sought medical advice on the 25-year old’s injury, which caused him severe discomfort towards the end of last season, the information came back that an operation was not necessary and that rest was the best remedy.
But though the former Halifax prop forward has been able to train as normal throughout the pre-season, he has recently experienced soreness after the sessions and will now head back to find out if there is any other course of action he can take.
Boults, a real workhorse in the front row, is known to have particularly impressed Tony Benson with his technique when the new coach has looked back at DVD coverage of last season’s matches.
Meanwhile, Roughyeds chief executive Chris Hamilton today attends a Rugby Football League Council meeting at which he will attempt to nail down friendly arrangements with representatives of other clubs.
Oldham currently have one pre-season match confirmed, with a joint testimonial match for stalwart John Hough and Swinton Lions full-back Wayne English taking place at Sedgley Park on Sunday, January 11 (3pm kick off).
