OLDHAM Roughyeds head into the Christmas break after tonight’s training session with everyone at the club pleased with the progress made so far.
Having been working hard since an early November start, the squad convened for a team bonding session at the weekend and after this evening, won’t be back in as a group until first thing next week.
A friendly against Salford City Reds at The Willows awaits on Sunday, January 4 — the kick-off time is unconfirmed, but likely to be either 2pm or 3pm — with a game against Swinton Lions at Sedgley Park a week later and another at home to Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, January 25.
“It is the first break the players have had and it is fair to say everyone is pleased with the way training has gone,” said Roughyeds chief executive Chris Hamilton.
“There has been plenty of quality and lots of intensity in the work being done.
“We have no major injury concerns either, with just one or two carrying minor knocks which aren’t affecting training.”
There is a possibility of another pre-season fixture being arranged, but with Rochdale Hornets involved in a battle for survival ahead of a winding-up order at the High Court in London on January 14, a Law Cup clash between the local rivals is unlikely.
