THE SKY Sports cameras were at Boundary Park for the Rochdale game last week to film a piece on the Roughyeds’ Ireland connection.

Wayne Kerr and Stevie Gibbons have both made the journey across the Irish sea from Carlow Crusaders to London Skolars, through a World Cup campaign in Australia and on to Oldham, while coach Tony Benson has journeyed along a similar road.

The Kiwi is involved with the Ireland Wolfhounds development side and moved from the Skolars to the Roughyeds, at which point he set out to snap up his former two charges.

The story is set to appear on Boots ‘n’ All tonight, on Sky Sports 2 at 6.30pm.

OLDHAM’S reserves take to the field for the first time this season when visiting Hunslet Hawks on Friday night (7.30pm kick off).

A number of senior players who have yet to play in a competitive fixture could feature.

That grouping includes Luke Sutton — who was sick at the weekend, preventing him from selection — Luke Menzies, Richard Mervill, Lucas Onyango and Craig Littler, plus the five second team players from last season who have since signed pro deals.
