CHIEF executive Chris Hamilton is hoping for a bumper attendance for this weekend’s Challenge Cup third round tie at home to Sharlston Rovers (3pm).
The club have taken the step of slashing admission prices for the game against the Yorkshire amateurs, both as a ‘thank you’ to the club’s supporters and in a bid to boost the crowd figure for the game.
"We hope supporters will respond and we would hope to attract one of the best attendances of the round,” said Mr Hamilton, who is to become the president of the RFL in July.
“We recognise that these are difficult times for supporters with regards to the credit crunch so we are doing our best to assist when it comes to the price of admission.
“Hopefully, plenty of supporters will come down to Boundary Park to cheer on the boys to another win and a place in the fourth round of the competition.”
Adults who normally pay £15 in the upper tier and £13 in the lower tier will only pay £10 on Sunday, while the cost for concessions is £5.
In addition, season-ticket holders will gain free admission to the cup tie as part of a new, game-wide initiative introduced by the RFL in a bid to increase attendances at these pro-am Challenge Cup ties.
