SWINTON Lions now top the standings in the Co-operative Championship One following a 42-28 home win over struggling Workington on Easter Monday.
Matty Ashe, Andrew Saywell (two), Michael Wainwright, Carl Sneyd, ex-Oldham forward Tommy Grundy and Alex McClurg scored tries for the home side, who are two points clear at the top of the table with a 100-per-cent record from their four league matches.
The only real concern from a Swinton point of view will have been the crowd figure at Sedgley Park. Only 404 fans attended the game, though even that number comfortably exceeded the 215 present at the London Skolars v Blackpool clash, the division's lowest crowd for two seasons.
Former loan centre at Oldham, Michael Brown, went in for two tries for Hunslet who defeated Keighley 21-18 in a tight encounter at the South Leeds Stadium.
The Hawks are now well-placed in second, with an identical record to Oldham, save for a superior points differential.
Just behind the Roughyeds are fourth-placed Dewsbury. The two sides meet at Boundary Park in the only Championship One fixture of the week this Sunday (3pm kick-off).
At the bottom end of the table, Hornets RL, who lost 44-14 at York on Monday, are currently on minus six points after being deducted nine for breaching financial rules before the season began.
