TWO incidents were placed on report in Oldham’s derby fixture at Spotland.
In a physical, testy encounter, a confrontation as the sides left the field for half-time will be looked at by the RFL's review panel this Thursday, as will the moment close to the end of the game when a scrum degenerated into a minor set-to.
In the latter case, a penalty was awarded to Oldham by referee Matthew Kidd, who sent three players to the sin-bin during the match.
Dave Allen (dissent) and Luke Menzies (fighting) both had a temporary enforced spell on the sidelines, though a curiosity of Allen’s case was that he appeared to be allowed back on the field after serving around seven minutes of playing time.
Rochdale player David Best (fighting) also went into the bin and was later spoken to by the RFL’s match commissioner after appearing to aim a gesture towards the Oldham supporters following his yellow card.
