OLDHAM will go on the hunt for a big points total when facing London Skolars in the capital on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick off).
Defeat to Dewsbury and a late rally in victory over Swinton last week have put a dent the Roughyeds’ points differential, which could end up proving to be a vital statistic in a 10-team league which is already shaping up to be tightly contested.
Oldham sit second in the Co-operative Championship One table, two points behind Dewsbury and a point clear of Swinton but having played a game more than both those sides.
The Skolars, by contrast, are second bottom of the division and have lost all five matches they have played so far.
Coach Tony Benson will tonight name his 18-man squad to travel down to take on the Skolars on the morning of the game.
Currently, there are injury doubts hanging over hookers Gary Sykes (back) and Stevie Gibbons (knee) and centre Marcus St Hilaire (hamstring).
Roughyeds reserve team coach John Hough expects to have “two or three” first-team squad members in the side which takes on Leigh at Sedgley Park on Friday night (7.30pm kick off).
It is the team’s second league game of the season and the club is asking for a show of support from fans able to attend the game.
