Roberts doubt for Roughyeds

OLDHAM could be without the services of Robert Roberts for the game against Hunslet this weekend.
The Roughyeds captain visited hospital this morning for an x-ray on an ankle which was stood on during the defeat to Gateshead and may have to vacate his loose forward spot in Tony Benson’s side.
Also struggling to make the Boundary Park clash on Sunday is Wayne Kerr. The Irish prop forward is still reporting a knee problem which kept him out of the Challenge Cup tie, but he is the only other concern at present.
Marcus St Hilaire is fit and ready after suffering from a tight hamstring during the Thunder clash, while Craig Robinson is in line to return against a Hawks side who have impressed so far this season.
Last night’s training session included a video review of the Gateshead game and Benson doesn’t feel there was too much wrong with the way his side went about their task.
“We looked at the 20 minute-spell after half-time and it was very clear what happened,” he said. “Apart from that, the rest looked pretty good.
“In the first quarter of the game we conceded one try and in the last quarter the same, while in the case of the latter it was an intercept.
“So for 60 minutes, our defence was superb.”
Meanwhile, Karl Harrison is to stay on as coach of Co-operative Championship side Batley until the end of the season.
The former Salford boss took over as caretaker at Mount Pleasant following the resignation of Gary Thornton last month and is now faced with the task of helping the side avoid relegation.
