ROBERT ROBERTS will learn tonight if he is to pick up an RFL ban.
Oldham’s skipper was due before the governing body’s disciplinary panel yesterday, but the hearing was postponed 24 hours because the M62 was closed in both directions for most of the day due to a serious accident between Bradford and Leeds.
“I spoke to the RFL at lunchtime and when it later became apparent that the motorway was going to be closed for most of the day they put our hearing back until Wednesday at 5pm,” said Roughyeds chief executive Chris Hamilton, who accompanies Roberts at the Leeds hearing tonight.
‘Two Bobs’ faces sanctions ranging from no further action to a two-match ban for an alleged use of an elbow in a game at Gateshead two weeks ago.
In the event of a suspension it would start at midnight, ruling Roberts out of Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One game at Swinton Lions and, possibly, the Northern Rail Cup quarter-final tie against Featherstone Rovers.
Meanwhile, former Waterhead junior Danny Sculthorpe has been given a seven-day ban by Super League side Wakefield after an alleged breach of club discipline.
Also suspended for a week by the Wildcats is scrum-half Danny Brough and both men miss Sunday’s home game against Huddersfield.
