Dewsbury face tough task at York

WHILE Oldham have a weekend off, there is plenty of other action going on in Co-operative Championship One.
Keighley have the chance to get within one point of the Roughyeds when taking on troubled Workington at home, London Skolars are bidding to turn the tables on Hunslet and Swinton are again at Sedgley Park for a local derby with Rochdale.
The one fixture that will certainly catch the eye of Oldham supporters, though, is the one taking place at the Huntington Stadium.
York, currently in fourth place in the table, take on unbeaten Dewsbury in a game in which many will be praying the Rams slip up in.
Oldham’s blank Sunday comes as a result of having the home match against Blackpool brought forward as a season-opener, a shift designed to ensure that all home league matches could be played at Boundary Park.
IT WAS ironic that an RFL official was heard joking about the need for a decent hooter before kick-off at Sedgley Park, only for the timekeeper's appendage to emit a slightly weedy high-pitched squeal a second or two before hitting the big bass note on every occasion it was used.
Thankfully, there wasn't a controversial incident similar to the one that occurred recently in the Wigan-Hull KR Super League clash at the JJB Stadium, in which the Robins scored after the half-time blast — not heard by referee Richard Silverwood — had sounded.
Maybe it is time for the RFL to invest in a job-lot of new hooters.
FC LÉZIGNAN, the team from across the channel that Oldham defeated 60-30 in a highly entertaining Challenge Cup fourth round game earlier this season, have claimed the French Championship title for the fifth time in their history.
In front of a crowd of 11,263 in Carcassone, the Wild Boars maintained their excellent recent form to defeat rivals Limoux 40-32 and claim successive championships.
