OLDHAM have issued an appeal to supporters to back the team in the upcoming Northern Rail Nines competition.
Tickets for the event, which takes place at Fylde RUFC on the weekend of July 11 and 12, are only available to purchase from the the club offices on Lansdowne Road.
With the costs of sending a 15-man playing squad to the event being taken on by the Roughyeds, in tough financial times like these the club needs as many followers as possible to attend the pioneering event.
“It is a first, and an important source of revenue for us,” said Oldham’s chief executive Chris Hamilton, who hopes that tickets prices of £9 (adults) and £5 (concessions), granting access to both days, will prove attractive.
“We haven’t played in an event of this kind before and, along with the other clubs and the RFL, we are hopeful that it turns out to be a success so that it can become part of the Northern Rail Cup finals weekend in years to come.
“Plus, it gives the club a chance to pick up some silverware.”
Should Oldham make it through to the final of either the main competition or the plate on the Sunday, those games will be played as curtain-raisers to Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup final between Barrow and Widnes — with tickets already bought validating entry to Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, free of charge.
If the Roughyeds don’t get to either final, upgrades for the NRC final can then be bought at a coast of £5 (adults) and £2 (concessions).
A SUPPORTERS’ bus will run to Workington on Sunday, subject to demand. Leaving the Black Horse on Ripponden Road at 10.30am and the Mecca Bingo car park at 10.45am at a cost of £20, sufficient numbers are needed by 5pm on Thursday.
