Quinn wants fans’ input

BILL Quinn wants to end his involvement with Oldham and is encouraging potential buyers for his 75-per-cent shareholding to come forward.

The former chairman of Oldham, who resigned as a director of the club in May, is keen for supporters’ groups to step into the void created by his departure.

No more money will ultimately be put into club coffers by Quinn, who recently paid in full a tax bill of £55,000 in order that the club avoided a winding-up order.

He is also keen to stress that his relationship with chief executive Chris Hamilton, the one remaining member of the Roughyeds’ board, has not broken down.

“As far as I am concerned, I now want nothing more to do with the club,” said Quinn.

“My shares are up for sale to those who either want to help or run the club and any genuine enquiries will be discussed.

“I also want to emphasise that there has been no fall-out with Chris Hamilton and that I don’t think there is anyone better to run the club than him at this moment in time.

“I want the club to be successful. But for the good of the club, it needs to stand on its own two feet and not just rely on one man putting all the money in, as that model doesn’t work financially.

“I personally believe the club should become more fan-friendly and now is the time for that to happen.”
