Jamie ready to battle on

JAMIE I’Anson is set to battle on through the pain of an injured wrist for the rest of the season.

The bustling prop forward has been turning out with heavy strapping on the injury ever since sustaining it in a game at Workington eight weeks ago, with the help of injections of anaesthetic to get him through.

His brave efforts were particularly noteworthy in the recent match against Blackpool, where an incorrect injection led to the problem worsening.

With the Roughyeds having no game until the final match of the Co-operative Championship One season a week on Sunday away to Hunslet, the opportunity has been taken to give I’Anson a steroid injection to speed up the healing process, ruling him out of all training for 10 days.

The club are organising a specialist appointment for the former Leeds and Celtic Crusaders forward, with a view to getting him straight in for an operation, if it is needed, once the campaign is over.

Another player who will be absent from training tomorrow night is Chris Baines, who has picked up a groin problem, while Neil Roden (ankle) and Luke Menzies (shoulder) are also being monitored.

Lee Greenwood’s injury to his collar bone is too swollen at present to assess the extent of the problem he picked up in the home defeat to York.

THE supporters’ bus to Hunslet on Sunday, September 6, will leave the Mecca Bingo car park at 1pm and the Black Horse at 1.15pm. The cost per person is £12 and bookings can be made through the Roughyeds office on (0161) 6283677.

HULL duo Jordan Tansey and Danny Tickle have been handed two–match bans and fined £300 by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary committee after being found guilty of dangerous tackles in their side’s 26–6 Super League win over Harlequins.
