Congratulations to Ben Heaton from teammates after his try
YOUNG star Ben Heaton admits he was desperate to get on the score sheet against York.
Turning out at centre for the first time ever, the 19-year-old responded to being thrust into the spotlight with a memorably lively performance which included a very well-taken fifth-minute try.
The former Rochdale Mayfield player — who has experience playing at full-back, stand-off, loose forward, second row and hooker — hopes he has done enough to be involved once again in the final against Keighley.
“I just wanted to get over that line,” said Heaton, pictured celebrating his try with team-mates.
“I really didn’t want to play without scoring.
“It was a brilliant experience and I enjoyed every minute, though I didn’t hear the crowd there as I was just concentrated on what was happening on the pitch.
“I will just go to training now and see what happens.
“I reckon that our chances of winning the final are very good given the way we have destroyed teams recently.”
