ROUGHYEDS chief executive Chris Hamilton will hold talks with Oldham Council officials later today about Athletic’s proposed move to a new ground in Failsworth.
The town’s football club are planning a £20 million, 12,000-seater stadium with community sports facilities on a 30-acre site off Broadway.
“I’ll be going to the council to protect our interests,” said Mr Hamilton.
Oldham have used Boundary Park for the majority of the time since the new club was formed in 1997 but would need to find an alternative venue, preferably in the borough, if no agreement is reached.
Looking ahead to next year, Mr Hamilton is hoping to set up a meeting with Athletic managing director Simon Corney to discuss the use of Boundary Park for the 2010 Co-Operative Championship One season.
* FORMER Australian Test star Andrew Johns is to help Warrington in their preparations for the 2010 season.
Johns, who made three appearances for the Wolves in a short–term deal at the end of the 2005 Super League season, will spend two weeks with them in January.
