Roughyeds talks continue

OLDHAM Roughyeds future could be sorted out over the weekend after more talks between major shareholder Bill Quinn and chief executive Chris Hamilton.
Both men have had separate discussions this week with the Rugby Football League about the ownership issue and planned further talks today.
Mr Hamilton, who has a 25-per-cent stake in the club, has said he would like to secure Mr Quinn’s 75-per-cent but the pair have, so far, been unable to come to a deal.
Time is now of the essence as coach Tony Benson - or whoever is coach for next year - needs to start recruiting a squad with pre-season training scheduled to start in mid-November.
The RFL will also want to see a business plan put in place by whoever is in control of the Roughyeds before fixture lists are due to be drawn up, again next month.
Mr Hamilton said: “It is clear something needs to happen sooner, rather than later. I’m always hopeful, but we’ll have to see what develops.”
