OLDHAM RL are to release a statement concerning the venue for Sunday’s home Northern Rail Cup pool game against Hornets RL tomorrow.
Further talks were held over the weekend and continued yesterday as the club aims to tie down a home ground for the forthcoming season and those in the future, but nothing has yet been confirmed.
“Matters have continued to move on positively over the last two or three days,” said Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton.
“And on Wednesday we will be making an announcement about Sunday’s game.”
On the pitch, the club made a start to the season with a 24-12 defeat at Leigh Centurions which contained plenty of promise as well as earning what could be a crucial bonus point as Tony Benson’s men attempt to finish in a qualification place in the pool.
In addition to the derby against Hornets, Roughyeds face games away at Hunslet on February 14 and at home to Sheffield Eagles on February 21 before the league season begins.
Benson’s injuries list has not worsened as a result of the Leigh game, with the squad emerging relatively unscathed.
The main injury concerns surround players who didn’t feature on Sunday such as Paul Reilly, Marcus St Hilaire, Craig Robinson, Kashley Watkins and Saqib Murtza.
