LUCAS ONYANGO: Waits to learn his fate after bizarre incident at Hunslet.

SEVERAL players are having treatment for minor injuries as Oldham RL Club look ahead to Monday night’s Northern Rail Cup clash with Championship side Sheffield Eagles at Sedgley Park (8pm kick off).

Props Wayne Kerr and Dave Ellison, stand-off Neil Roden and winger Lucas Onyango picked up knocks in last Sunday’s 28-14 defeat at Hunslet, but all four expect to be given a clean bill of health in time to play against Mark Aston’s Eagles.

Second-row forward Kashley Watkins, currently on the injured list, will represent the club at today’s official launch of the new Co-operative Championships season, to be held in Manchester.

Roughyeds should know today whether there is a case to answer over the bizarre incident at Hunslet which referee Craig Halloran placed on report after a skirmish near the end of the game.

An Oldham tackle produced an instant reaction from Hawks players. The referee consulted a touchjudge and then produced a red card for Onyango only to change his mind after being advised that he had got the wrong player.

In the end nobody was sent off, but the incident was referred to the RFL disciplinary department who would decide whether further action was appropriate.

Season-ticket holders will be offered seats in the Sedgley Park stand on Monday without paying the £2 transfer providing they are seated before 7.45pm, at which point remaining seats will be made available to all.

The club is also asking those who plan to attend the meeting for season-ticket holders at Whitebank Stadium tomorrow, starting at 6.30pm, to ring the above number in order to reserve a place.
