ROUGHYEDS coach Tony Benson paid tribute to the travelling fans who cheered his side on during the 29-16 defeat of Co-operative Championship One title favourites Hunslet.
“The support was phenomenal,” said Benson, after a second successive league win put Oldham top of the table.
“The whole stand was Oldham and they were loud and fantastic.
“The boys were commenting on it in the changing room after the game how good it made them feel.”
Jamie I’Anson, who is combining his rugby with training to become a professional cage fighter, made his second Roughyeds ‘debut’ from the bench at the South Leeds Stadium. Match report on Page 33
Injuries were sustained during the game by Matty Ashe (eye), Ben Heaton (concussion), Paul Reilly (knee) and Mick Fogerty (nose), while Paul O’Connor dislocated a finger in warm-up but was able to play.
Roughyeds are next in action at Hornets RL on Good Friday, April 2.
