Roughyeds renew sponsorship deal

ADAMSONS, the Oldham vehicle care centre, is sponsoring Oldham Rugby League Club for the second year - to retain links between club and company spanning more than half a century.
The vehicle repair business was founded by lifelong Oldham fan George Gore in 1954 - the year before the Roughyeds were beaten 7-3 by Warrington in the 1955 Championship Final at Maine Road, Manchester in front of a crowd of 49,000.
More than 50 years on, Adamsons is now run by George’s grandsons, who are pleased to have a commercial partnership with the current Oldham Rugby League Club.
One of them, James Gore, said he was delighted that the club had finally ended its 13-year search for a permanent home in the borough by moving into the Whitebank Stadium, Limehurst Village, where the Roughyeds hope to be playing home matches by next month.
“Hopefully, it will be onwards and upwards from here,” said James. “It has been a long, hard battle for the club over the last few years, but with a bit of luck there will have a good-news story to tell from now on.”
