ROUGHYEDS chairman Chris Hamilton will fight Wayne Kerr’s corner at an RFL disciplinary hearing tonight.
The Irish international prop forward, who has missed only one of Oldham’s 15 league and cup matches in 2010, has been charged with a reckless high tackle on York winger Dennis Tuffour and faces a one or two-match ban if found guilty.
Kerr (pictured inset) received a red card as a result of the incident in the Knights’ 34-28 win in the Roughyeds’ first game at the Whitebank Stadium two weeks ago.
And any ban would see him miss Sunday’s big top-of-the-table clash with Hunslet at the team’s new home.
It is the second time Kerr has been in front of the panel this season — and the Roughyeds are hoping for a similar result.
The 26-year-old escaped suspension when charged with fighting at Swinton, leaving him free to play in the following fixture at Hunslet, when Oldham produced a 29-16 win to inflict the Hawks’ only league defeat of the season.
While Neil Roden may be fit to take on Hunslet at the Whitebank (see Page 35), Marcus St Hilaire — who has missed the last three games with a sore back — won’t play. He has had a scan on the injury but the results have not yet come through.
