Roughyeds handed a difficult draw in Nines

A TOUGH task is in store if Oldham are to triumph in this year's Northern Rail Nines competition at the Memorial Ground, Blackpool, on Saturday, July 17.
The Roughyeds have been drawn in pool two along with three Co-operative Championship sides, Featherstone Rovers, Barrow Raiders and Sheffield Eagles.
Tickets for the Nines purchased on the day will cost £10 adults and £6 concessions. Normal prices for tickets bought in advance are £9 and £5, but tickets pre-purchased from the Roughyeds office in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton (tel: (0161) 628 3677) are available at £6 and £3.
These tickets, available now, also carry a £5 discount on adult tickets for the next day's Northern Rail Cup final.
OLDHAM RLFC are to hold a formal dinner to celebrate chairman Chris Hamilton's stint as president of the RFL.
Marking the culmination of his duties, the event will take place at the Whitebank Stadium on Thursday, July 8.
Mr Hamilton himself is the guest speaker on a night which is hosted by Super League referee Ian Smith.
Entertainment is provided by comedian Bobby Bender and as well as a three-course dinner, there will be a raffle and auction.
Tables of 10 are available at £250 plus VAT and individual seats can be bought for £25.
