Ashe hoodoo strikes again

STERLING SERVICE . . . Paul O’Connor fends off a Gateshead challenge during his 100th game for Oldham.
KIWI half-back Matty Ashe's bad luck has struck again.
The Oldham RL pivot picked up calf and collar bone injuries in the 68-10 win at Gateshead yesterday — his first game back after several weeks sidelined by a hip injury.
After the game there were fears that he might have fractured the collar bone, which will be checked out this week.
"It's too early to be sure of the seriousness of Matty's injuries, but he was in a lot of pain," said Oldham coach Tony Benson.
Centre Marcus St Hilaire and Ashe's fellow half-back Gregg McNally, both of whom took knocks to a knee, will also be checked out as the Roughyeds get ready for Sunday's clash with derby rivals Swinton Lions at Whitebank.
Meanwhile, the Roughyeds intend to recognise full-back Paul O'Connor's milestone in reaching 100 senior games before the Swinton game on Sunday.
The former Widnes full-back led out the side at Gateshead yesterday, but coach Tony Benson wants O'Connor to receive the plaudits of fans at a home game.
"It's the least he deserves and we will be putting something on for him," said Benson, who also revealed that prop Jason Boults is approaching a similar milestone.
Boults is only three games away from completing his 100 cup and league games in Oldham colours.
The reserve team's rearranged game against Leigh Centurions away tomorrow night will take place at the ground of Golborne Parkside ARLFC, kicking off at 7.30pm.
