Cruel break rocks Craig

UNLUCKY Craig Robinson, the Oldham Rugby League Club forward, has broken a finger in training . . . just as the squad is preparing for its play-off adventure with promotion as top prize.

The Yorkshireman, who has missed eight of the last nine games due to a variety of injuries, was pencilled in to play at London Skolars tomorrow night and stake a claim for inclusion in the Oldham side to face York City Knights at Whitebank in the play-offs on September 12.

He took a knock to his hand during tackling practice, however, and the broken finger will rule him out of the game at the New River Stadium in North London and perhaps bring his season to a premature end.

"Craig must be the unluckiest player at the club," said coach Tony Benson.

"He won't play at London, but at this stage we won't rule him out of anything else. He won't be having surgery until the season is over so we will assess him later."

His fellow forward Ian Hodson, who is having treatment on a knee injury sustained in a reserves match, is also ruled out of the London game.

Jason Boults (groin) and Luke Sutton (knee) are doubtful. Both will be examined and then given fitness checks at training tonight before Benson names his squad to travel.

THE newly-formed Oldham Roughyeds' Supporters Association (ORSA) meets at Whitebank tonight at 8pm. All welcome.
