Boults poised for Oldham all-clear

JASON BOULTS . . . checked at training tonight.
PROP Jason Boults, who did not play in the 48-18 win at London Skolars last time out, hopes to be back for Oldham Roughyeds in Sunday’s play-off clash with York City Knights at the Whitebank Stadium.
The Yorkshireman starred against Hornets with a three-try performance in a 44-14 win at the Whitebank Stadium last month before complaining of a groin injury.
He wasn’t fit to travel to London for the final Co-operative Championship One game of the season 12 days later, but rest and rehab over the last three weeks seem to have done the trick and Boults is expected to be given the all-clear at training tonight.
Centres Mick Fogerty (knee) and Marcus St Hilaire (shin), both hurt in the London game, will also be assessed tonight along with forward Craig Robinson, who broke a finger in training a fortnight ago.
Influential stand-off Neil Roden, rested for the Skolars game, will also be pushing for a recall from what will hopefully be a fully-fit squad of 21 or 22.
The match is NOT all-ticket, but capacity is only 1,502 and tickets have been selling steadily for the past two weeks. York have sold 160 so far and expect to bring more than 300 fans with them.
Roughyeds are advising fans to buy in advance, not only to guarantee a place but to ease congestion on the day at a ground which has only two turnstiles.
Tickets will be on sale from the club’s office in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton up to 5.00pm on Friday.
Said chairman Chris Hamilton: “A lot of fans who are buying tickets say they will be making their first visit to Whitebank, so that is very encouraging.
“It’s a massive game for us in what is already a record-breaking season and we are hoping fans will cheer us on to the Grand Final and one step nearer promotion.”
York expect their fans to be outnumbered four to one, but they are urging supporters to come armed with flags, scarves and hats to turn Whitebank into a sea of blue.
