Roughyeds fans to turn out in force

OLDHAM RL Club are looking to their fans to be their 18th man in Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One play-off final showdown with York City Knights at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
All season Tony Benson’s men have enjoyed bigger home-and-away support than any other club in the division, but officials expect the Roughyeds faithful to give their team more backing in the final than at any of the previous 27 cup and league outings in a memorable campaign.
There are even indications that Roughyeds will have a bigger army of fans for this one than they did in previous finals at Headingly in 2007 or at the Halliwell Jones in 2008 and 2009.
“It’s looking good,” said office manager Janet Yewdale when reporting that in the last 48 hours there has been a run on match ticket sales and bookings for club coaches.
Roughyeds have cleared out their allocation in two sections of the main-stand.
The only tickets available from the club now are behind the posts — seats in East Stand at £15 (£8 concessions) or standing in West Stand at £14 (£7 concessions).
