Sinfield lends his hand at RFL camp

A FAMILIAR face popped in at Saddleworth School, where under-14s and under-16s were taking part in an RFL training camp.
Leeds Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield, who started out at Waterhead, signed shirts and held a kicking session with the youngsters.
RFL talent coach Steve Molloy said: “We felt it was important for the players to meet someone who worked hard to get from playground to podium.
“Kevin is a high profile figure, and he was only too happy to put a bit back. People could relate to him due to his Waterhead connections.”
The training camp was part of an ongoing RFL process to form talent squads made up of school pupils, who will be recommended for county representation if they catch the eye of coaches.
Molloy explained: “This is an opportunity for players to showcase their skills.
“We held trials in the summer, and the best players are being invited back to take part in the training camps.
“The next step is putting together a 35-strong squad of under-13s and under-14s, and a total of 25 players at under-15 and under-16 level.”
It is not too late to get involved with the training camps. For more details, call Steve on 07515 753677.
