Young guns out to impress

FIRST-TEAM players of the future will be on view at Whitebank tomorrow night (7.30) when Oldham RL reserves entertain Matt Calland's newly-formed Halifax under-23s in a pre-season friendly.
Roughyeds beat Dewsbury Rams 36-12 in their first warm-up match, but expect Calland's boys, some of whom may be Oldhamers, to present a tougher test.
The Halifax squad is expected to include one or two young prospects from Calland's successful Hopwood Hall college team at Middleton.
Oldham's squad is a mix of locals and players from further afield, some of them already on contract and others who are playing for deals.
