OLDHAM Rugby League Club are ready to put their fans “completely in the picture” regarding the

occupancy and use of the Whitebank into which they moved in May last year.

All will be revealed at a fans’ forum in the Whitebank social club on Tuesday, August 16 (7.30pm) when club chairman Chris Hamilton will address fans about “the club’s current ground situation” and then take questions.

Admission will cost £4, including pie and peas supper, and in anticipation of a full house tickets are on sale now from the club offices in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Telephone (0161) 628 3677.

The forum will deal exclusively with matters relating to the club’s move to Whitebank, but it is intended to have another one at a later date to discuss rugby matters in the presence of the club’s coaches, headed by Tony Benson.

“Interesting announcements will be made at both forums,” said club chairman Hamilton, “so we are hoping as many fans as possible will make a special effort to attend.”

The club’s new Extended Scholarship under-18s squad, which had previously posted a home win against Workington and a draw at Hunslet, went down 28-18 at Keighley last night after leading 18-6 at half-time.

Faced by bigger opponents, Roughyeds scored first-half tries by stand-of Tom Shaw, centre Chris Jarvis and second-row forward Adam White, all converted by Shaw, but they were out-muscled after half-time when Keighley ran in four unanswered tries.

The reserves match at Sheffield Eagles on Saturday, in which Roughyeds will be bidding to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games, will kick-off at 11.30am.
