Reserves gain revenge in style

OLDHAM RL under-23s clinched the runners-up spot in the Championship’s Reserve Division with a 66-20 mauling of Dewsbury Rams at Whitebank on Saturday.
The comprehensive hammering of Dewsbury avenged a 50-16 defeat in Yorkshire back in April — one of only three losses in 17 games — and stretched the Roughyeds' unbeaten run to ten.
Roughyeds scored six tries in the first half when half-back Jamie Dallimore and loose-forward Alex Thomson were at their influential best and six more in the second half despite the withdrawal of Dallimore and Thomson at half-time.
Roughyeds led 32-8 at that stage and Thomson was taken off as he had picked up a couple of knocks, while Dallimore was rested.
Try scorers were Terry Bridge, Thomson (2), Danny Langtree (2), Kenny Hughes (2), Tom Wood-Hulme, Paul Brearley (2), Steven Nield and David Cookson.
