NEW signing Miles Greenwood is in line to make his Oldham RL debut in Sunday’s Law Cup clash with Rochdale Hornets at Whitebank (3pm kick-off).
Coach Tony Benson has confirmed the 24-year-old former Halifax full-back will become the seventh Oldham-born player in a squad of 23 from which he will select his line-up.
Hooker Martin Roden, Benson’s No 2 but still registered as a player, replaces John Clough, who is unavailable because of work commitments.
Jason Boults is hampered by a slight groin strain, so Dave Ellison will be on stand-by.
The seven locals are Greenwood, Dave Cookson, Shaun Robinson, Matthew Fogarty, Danny Whitmore, John Gillam and Chris Clarke.
Squad: Greenwood, T Rigby, Robinson, Fogarty, McCully, Coookson, Gillam, N Roden, Reid, Dallimore, Boults, Ellison, Whitmore, M Roden, Gilchrist, Johnson, Stenchion, Smith, Clarke, Langtrree, Thompson, N Rigby, Bentley.
The televised all-Manchester FA Cup tie between City and United, kicking off at 1pm, will be shown on the big screen in the Whitebank club for the convenience of sports lovers who would like to watch that derby as well as the Law Cup game.
High winds have caused damage to Whitebank, blowing the roof off a turnstile block and lifting the visiting team's touchline shelter and blowing it into a fence. Repairs were set to continue today, ahead of a lunchtime pitch inspection.
Waterlogging caused the game to be postponed last Monday and rearranged for this Sunday.
The pitch has since had to cope with more incessant rain and it was still wet today, despite conditions improving over the last 24 hours. Club officials will be checking latest weather forecasts and examining the playing surface before giving supporters an update on the Roughyeds' website, Facebook, Twitter and usual media outlets.
Fans can also ring the club on (0161) 628 3677. Information after 5pm will be left on a recorded message.
