Cup hopes fading fast

HOPES of rescheduling the Law Cup clash between Oldham and Rochdale Hornets are diminishing.
The fixture has been postponed three times, most recently on Sunday when the Whitebank pitch was frozen.
Just hours after the call-off, Roughyeds pinpointed tonight as a viable alternative.
But Rochdale officials were reluctant to commit to a specific date.
They were due to discuss the topic at a board meeting on Monday night, but disappointed Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton has confirmed he is yet to hear back from them.
Communication between the clubs has surely not been helped by Rochdale director of rugby John Stankevitch questioning Oldham’s resources via his Twitter account.
He described the latest postponement as a “total embarrassment” and intimated that the standard of the Whitebank facilities should be reviewed — something that did not go down well with Hamilton.
Roughyeds travel to Whitehaven on Sunday for a warm-up fixture ahead of next month’s return to competitive action.
